English/Language Arts--Juniors
&
Home of the Yearbook Staff
11th grade Language Arts focuses on writing and composition
in preparation for the college experience.
Students read samples of American Literature from the earliest time to the contemporary era.
Writing experiences are both formal and informal in response to the reading
as students are asked to write themes, essays, reviews, journals, poetry, and speeches.
Instruction and practice also focuses on using electronic resources--
including e-mail, web logs (blogs), PowerPoint, and web pages.
Grammar and vocabulary are also addressed.
Projects include electronic presentations, personal presentations, multi-paragraph themes,
and a fully documented research paper in MLA format.
Classes also read a minimum of two novels and one play.
